Jack Johnson è nato alle Hawaii nel 1975. E' stato un eccellente surfista, campione di questo sport per anni, poi un incidente lo ha costretto a smettere. Nel 1999 ha diretto una pellicola, "Thicker than Water", proprio dedicata al surf.

Nel 2001 pubblica il suo primo album, "Brushfire Fairytales", che lo rende abbastanza popolare anche nel mondo della musica.

Jack Johnson è stato per diversi anni un artista noto ad una ristretta cerchia di persone, fino a quando, nel 2006, pubblica un disco che ha fatto da colonna sonora al cartone animato "Curious george", finendo in cima a tutte le classifiche.

Upside Down è il primo estratto dal suo ultimo album Sing-A-Longs & Lullabies for the Film Curious George, un brano quasi in grado di farci immaginare i paradisi in cui Jack vive, grazie alla SUA chitarra acustica e alla sua voce calda e armoniosa che creano un mix di sonorità davvero originali.
